From Projects to Partnerships
Over 20 years ago, we saw a pattern repeating across Canada: Indigenous Nations receiving funding for housing, water, health, or land projects — but without the governance, training, or systems to ensure long-term success. Projects stalled. Knowledge was lost. Communities were left waiting.
We founded Indigenous Project Management Solutions (IPMS) to change that story. Our vision was clear: equip Nations with project management tools and systems that reflect their own laws, values, and priorities.
Walking Beside 170+ Nations
Since then, we’ve partnered with over 170 First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities from coast to coast to coast. Each project has been different, but the goal has always been the same: support Nations to deliver projects on their own terms.
- Mistawasis Nehiyawak (SK): Guided housing development from planning to delivery.
- Niijaansinaanik Child & Family Services (ON): Advisory support toward independent designation.
- Moose Cree First Nation (ON): Land-use planning supported with Nation-led governance.
- Siksika Nation (AB): Source water protection plans paired with project management training.
“They didn’t just give us templates — they walked with us. Their work is grounded in who we are as a people.” — Community Leader, Treaty 6 Territory
Building Capacity, Continuity, and Community
Our journey has been guided by the 3Cs framework, which has become the foundation of every project we support:
Our Mission Today
The need is urgent. With a $349B housing and infrastructure gap, 28 long-term water advisories still in place, and a $2B Indigenous Health Equity Fund driving projects, strong governance is more critical than ever.
Our commitment remains grounded in these guiding principles:
Vision:
Empower Indigenous Communities to Protect the Land and Secure a Sustainable Future.
Mission:
To deliver culturally grounded project‑management solutions that strengthen Indigenous leadership.
Purpose:
Bring Indigenous visions to life through transformative projects that support the journey towards sustainable self-determination.
The Future We’re Building Together
We believe every Nation deserves the skills, systems, and support to deliver projects that reflect self-determination, culture, and Nation-to-Nation partnership.
As we look ahead, we see a future where:
- Every home is safe and adequate.
- Every community has clean drinking water.
- Every Nation manages its own energy, lands, and health systems.
- Every project is led with pride, professionalism, and cultural grounding.
