Your Questions, Answered with Respect
At Indigenous Project Management Solutions, we know every Nation’s journey is unique. These frequently asked questions provide clarity on our services, training, and approach—helping you decide how project management can best support your community.
About Our Approach
Q: What makes Indigenous Project Management Solutions different from other training providers?
A: Every course, workshop, and service we deliver is rooted in Indigenous governance, values, and self-determination. With over 20 years of experience in more than 170 communities, we adapt project management tools to reflect the cultural, political, and practical realities of Indigenous Nations.
Q: What are the 3Cs?
A: The 3Cs—Capacity, Continuity, and Community—are our guiding pillars:
- Capacity: Building skills and systems for project delivery from within the Nation.
- Continuity: Designing governance structures that sustain long-term outcomes.
- Community: Fostering peer networks and shared learning among Indigenous leaders.
Training & Certification
Q: What is the difference between Courses and Workshops?
A:
- Courses & Certifications are structured programs that build foundational or advanced project management knowledge, with pathways toward PMP® certification.
- Workshops are shorter, applied, and case-based—focused on hands-on learning tied directly to Nation projects.
Q: Do your programs count toward PMP® certification?
A: Yes. Many of our Courses & Certifications, including Project Management Essentials and Advanced Project Management, provide PDUs (Professional Development Units) that count toward PMP® exam eligibility.
Q: Can training be delivered in our community?
A: Absolutely. We specialize in delivering training on-site in your Nation or virtually for remote participation. We adapt the delivery model to suit your timelines, budget, and team availability.
Workshops & Webinars
Q: What kinds of workshops do you offer?
A: We offer applied workshops such as Stakeholder Management, Planning Essentials, Land Use Planning, and Indigenous Sector Workshops. We also host monthly Webinars for accessible, Nation-to-Nation learning.
Q: How long are workshops?
A: Most are 3-day sessions (24 PDUs), delivered in person or virtually. Some, like the Land Use Planning Workshop, run as multi-week online series.
Project Advisory & Services
Q: Do you help with projects beyond training?
A: Yes. Through Project Advisory & Support Services, Coaching, and PMO Implementation, we walk alongside Nations to design governance systems, mentor project teams, and support delivery from conception to close-out.
Q: What is a PMO, and why would our Nation need one?
A: A Project Management Office (PMO) is a governance system that standardizes project tools, templates, and reporting across a Nation. It ensures continuity across projects, builds capacity within staff, and improves funding accountability. See our PMO Implementation page for details.
Costs & Funding
Q: How much do your courses and workshops cost?
A: Pricing varies, but most 3-day workshops are $1,950 per participant, with group discounts available. Online subscriptions and multi-week programs are priced separately. Contact us to discuss Nation-specific pricing and delivery options.
Q: Can training or services be funded?
A: Yes. Many Nations use federal or provincial funding streams, including Indigenous Services Canada and sector-specific programs (housing, water, clean energy, climate resilience). We can help align your training or project services with eligible funding sources.
Getting Started
Q: How do we begin working with Indigenous Project Management Solutions?
A: The best first step is to Book a Discovery Call. We’ll learn about your Nation’s priorities and help design a pathway—whether that’s training, workshops, project advisory, or a combination.
Q: Do you only work with First Nations?
A: We proudly serve First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities, as well as Tribal Councils, Indigenous organizations, and youth leaders across Canada.
