The Urgency: Ending Water Injustice
Since 2015, Canada has lifted 144 long-term boil water advisories in Indigenous communities. But 28 remain. Behind every advisory are families without safe drinking water, Elders relying on bottled supply, and communities carrying the burden of underfunded systems.
Every delay compounds risk: failing infrastructure, health crises, and lost trust in public services. Nations need sustainable, Nation-led project management to ensure water systems are safe, resilient, and accountable.
The Solution: Indigenous-Led Project Delivery
Indigenous Project Management Solutions (IPMS) partners with Nations to deliver water and wastewater projects with structure and confidence.
We walk with you to:
- Capacity → Train water project leads, administrators, and youth in project management essentials and PMP® exam prep.
- Continuity → Embed PMOs and governance tools to protect projects beyond election cycles.
- Community → Connect water project leaders across Nations through peer circles and webinars to share lessons and strategies.
Every system built creates more than safe water. It creates local jobs, procurement opportunities, and skills that remain in the community.
Proof: Water Projects in Action
Over 20 years, IPMS has supported Nations in designing, managing, and sustaining water infrastructure projects:
- Skwlāx te Secwepemcúlecw (BC): Built a unified delivery plan for community water infrastructure (2025-2030).
- Siksika Nation (AB): Developed a Source Water Protection Plan with governance and training support.
- Toronto & Region Conservation Authority (ON): Partnered with Nations to design and implement water protection strategies.
- Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation (ON): Supported Traditional Knowledge mapping connected to water resource projects.
“This training gave our Nation the confidence to lead economic development projects and speak the same language as industry and government partners.” — Chief Gordon Planes, T’Sou-ke Nation
