PM Essentials — Workshop Registration
Building the Foundation for Nation-Led Success
Every housing build, water system, health initiative, clean energy project, and land-use plan depends on strong project management. But too often, Indigenous administrators and staff are asked to deliver complex projects without the tools, training, or confidence to succeed.
Our Essentials training changes that. This 3-day, hands-on workshop equips leadership, senior management, and administration with the skills to plan and deliver projects on time, on budget, and within scope.
The Challenge: Projects Without Structure
Without proper training, Nations risk:
- Missed funding deadlines and stalled projects.
- Budgets that don’t align with community priorities.
- Staff turnover that erases hard-won progress.
- Reliance on external consultants who take knowledge with them.
The Solution: Essentials Training With IPMS
This course provides a practical introduction to project management tailored for Indigenous Nations.
Participants learn how to:
- Define, plan, implement, and close projects with confidence.
- Build realistic schedules and budgets.
- Identify and manage risks before they derail progress.
- Strengthen communication across departments, funders, and members.
- Apply every tool directly to a real Nation project — not a textbook example.
Proof: Essentials in Action
IPMS has delivered this course to Nations across Canada, helping staff and leaders strengthen their project delivery:
Housing Coordinators in Ontario:
Built project charters that kept construction on time and within budget.
Youth Leaders:
Gained career pathways into project management roles in housing, lands, and health.
Community Administrators:
Used case-based learning to strengthen communication with funders and leadership.
“The training helped me build capacity and allocate resources more effectively—especially when staff are split between field work and office priorities. It helped us structure plans realistically, and strengthened our ability to explain our work to funder, execute, and report back—building stronger relationships and continuity over time.” — Samantha Noganosh, Lands, Resources & Environment Manager, Magnetawan First Nation, (ON)
Why Essentials Training Matters
Capacity:
Builds a foundation for Nation-led projects without dependence on consultants.
Continuity:
Knowledge stays in the Nation, across projects and leadership cycles.
Community:
Creates shared learning experiences that strengthen Nation-to-Nation collaboration.
Economic Growth:
Trained staff deliver projects that generate jobs, contracts, and long-term revenues.
